The departure point for my current paintings is the window motif, a classic yet viable subject to examine topics germane to the nature of painting and perception. I use this ubiquitous threshold as a conceptual locationfor the amorphous and protean qualities of a place we might regard as one of transition - an in-between status or condition that challenges our perceptual faculties. Through shape, patternsassociated with various cultures, color and mark making, I delve into this threshold location for a nascent image and the emotive content it holds.
