DIONNE LAUSBERG

Actively balancing on the boundaries of realism and abstraction, I'm inspired by ordinary objects. I use these objects to create worlds of non-existing places and non-existing shapes. Worlds into which you can disappear, wondering what it is you’re seeing.

To make shapes appear corporal I work with perspective, depth, light and shadow. Specially the light takes an important place in my work. I admire the striking use of light of the old masters of the 17th century, they inspire me.

My paintings are characterized by smooth surface, careful compositions and subtle use of color. To build up the painting I apply many thin layers of oil paint on top of each other. Every painting gives me a new idea for the next one, a new experiment in form or color, seeking for beauty.
