Artist Statement

A barren desert landscape. People around a fire. Trees that appear to dance. An abstract sky. At first glance the images appear to be unrelated to one another. The connection is not apparent to the artist either.

I am interested in the mystery of the image, working with the image as it comes, to let it reveal itself in the process of creating the picture. This makes way to the archetypal; something that is past a narrative, social, or critical meaning, and therefore full of possibilities.

I am involved in engaging the unconscious to bring an unexpected image into being. This process seeks to bring new material to the surface for artist and viewer, and hopefully spring something new.
