My works are tools with which I explore my response to the time we live. They are a meditation on the search for balance between the inner and outer world, and the perception of our impermanence; a reflection on the universality of the human experience, and the necessity for a radical reverence for life.

Interested in what is beyond the conscious mind, I use my artistic research as a free-form exploration of my unconscious and as a therapeutic form of self-expression. Inspired by the process of individuation described by Carl Jung, I try to articulate a study of my inner world and my identity in flux while exploring the relationship between the personal and collective unconscious.

My last series is a reflection on our origins, which go beyond the separation of borders, cultures, ethnicities, and religions.

Angelica Bergamini is an Italian born – New York-based artist. She spends study periods in Spain at the Facultad de Bellas Artes of Granada and the Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid and holds a degree in Painting from the Accademia di Belle Arti of Florence (Italy). Bergamini’s research explores the meaning of colors in an open dialogue with human emotions and natural shapes, while her experimental approach manifests through different mediums: from painting and paper-cuts assemblages to video and sculptural installations

Her works have been presented internationally as part of collective shows in New York (Tanja Grunert; White Box; BRIC Arts Media; Photo New York; Field Projects), London (Chelsea space), Paris (Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre), Stockholm (Färgfabriken), Milan (Pari&Dispari) and in Hong Kong (Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery). And part of private collections in USA, Europe, China, and Israel.

Bergamini’s most recent shows include her solo exhibition at Ivy Brown Gallery ( New York), and her participation to the “Il volo e`una scrittura del corpo nel cielo” – altered book project: 9 artists for a novel by C.Gagliardo, published by Hacca Edizioni. The project curated by Pietro Gagliano` and Anna Cecilia Russo, was first launched at Salone Internazionale del Libro in Turin 2015 (Italy). She is currently working on a video series based on the animation of a selection of her mixed media on paper.
